Photographing the gangs and gatherings of Paris Fashion Week

Ft. the Vetements crew, the Gosha kids and off-duty models, Yu Fujiwara paints an alternative portrait of the SS17 shows

London-based photographer Yu Fujiwara has a knack for showing us a different side to the goings-on of fashion week. Instead of glossy shots of street style stars posing and peacocking, he captures those in-between moments, when his subjects aren’t necessarily aware they’re being photographed – smoking a cig, getting out of a car, queuing for a show... Here in his snaps from this just-gone Paris Fashion Week, you’ll see some of fashion’s cult figures from the iconic Michèle Lamy to designers Demna Gvasalia and Gosha Rubchinskiy, and models Jamie Bochert and Teddy Quinlivan (who you may remember from her Dazed Fashion Instagram takeover). Taken outside the shows and parties –such as the launches of Vetements, Peter De Potter and Grace Coddington’s new books – these photos paint a more honest portrayal of the characters and chaos of fashion week.
