Ryan Lo AW15

A-manga Bynes babes in fur cuffs and thigh boots – the designer’s long-lashed girls are all grown up

Initial reaction:

Swan Lake Ice Capades in the 70s with a debutante Anna Karenina, styled by Dazed’s Elizabeth Fraser-Bell. Frozen's “Let It Go” blasted out into the room for the finale as the girls filed past, batting their long Bambi lashes behind veiled and feathered headpieces by Noel Stewart and swinging their bouncy manga ponytails.

Princesses becoming queens:

The dreamy girlishness was still there, but Ryan Lo's sugar-frosted girl is becoming a woman. Traipsing down the runway in full-skirted flocked velvet dresses with Victoriana collars and fluffy Snow Queen cuffs, they were like a young princess Olivia Godfrey out of Hemlock Grove – before she had her heart broken in snowy Romania. "This is my first catwalk in a sense, and I just turned 25, so I thought it was time to get more serious. A bit more mature, more womanly," Lo said after the show. As for the Frozen soundtrack and ice princess vibe – complete with clear pink manicures with a Swarovski on each nail – it represented this new path for Lo. "It’s just to take and risk and let it go. It’s not my usual thing to do grown up clothes.”
