In the second part of this series, photographer Lea Colombo captures intimate portraits of the models whose company became a source of familiarity as she travelled from city to city over a hectic month of shows. “I’ve met some great girls along the way,” Colombo tells us, “it definitely made the fashion week ride more fun.” Through her diptychs, she sets off images from her global travels with photographs of models, infusing a personal edge that adds another dimension to conventional backstage coverage. Her favourite of the series is of German-born Karolin Wolter backstage at Maison Martin Margiela looking “strong yet pure,” but every one of the images creates a feeling of strange calm – despite being captured at the centre of an industry that is vast and ever-changing.
