The design duo close MFW with a psychiatric ward for frustrated housewives in jewelled gowns
A woman unhinged.
From the Caten’s Penitentiary of menswear AW14 to a psychiatric hospital ward for womenswear. The show opened with a film featuring models and one of the designers in a bleak room reminiscent of the set.
Reminded me of:
Couped up, dressed up housewives with nowhere to go: lilac marabou feather capes, mini dresses in murky seventies colours with fur trims, and a gothic jet black ball gown – tight to the neck, dragging the floor, and finished with black leather gloves.
How they wore it:
Stilettos with ankle-tag cuffs and oversized baker boy and bucket hats. Hair was swooped into what was once a polished up do, but now fell in tense strands around the face.
Sound bites from the 1999 film Girl, Interrupted, and the 1975 documentary Grey Gardens.
