Topshop took The Tanks for their showspace this season, underneath the Tate Modern. Down the river in Pimlico, Paul Smith offered a bookend of sorts by holding his AW13 womenswear show at Tate Britain, the original outpost of the institution in the capital, focusing on art from 1500 to the present day.

It was a grand setting for Smith's relaxed tailoring, masculine in a way which only serves to enhance its wearers femininity. Smith's present day update?
