With blocky Hockneyesque kinetic photo collages filling Jonathan Saunders's underground Southampton Row space, a cast of models interacted, like the harmonious tones of each garment building a look. The dégradés in particular caught our eye, as well as hyper glossy slip-on sneakers by Christian Louboutin.
Attend a fashion show or collection presentation and designers will often have some kind of press release – whether an immersive document, full of beautifully flowing narrative or a dart-like statement of a few lines. Jonathan Saunders is a designer that doesn't subscribe. He does away with collection notes, preferring to let the clothes speak for themselves. Colour is his muse and there is no way to begin dissecting his skill for co-ordinating and contrasting hues. It's a form of intuition.
