Insider Access: James Pecis – Paris Day Two

Wrapped ponytails and minimalism, as seen by the Dazed contributor

James Pecis has been styling hair for the past 12 years and splits his time between London and New York. He works on catwalks throughout the international schedule as well as creating strong editorial looks for Dazed & Confused.

The hair this season for Peachoo + Krejberg was more about shape and form than the classic hairstyling. I used Extra Strength Holding Spray and Thickening Spray by Bumble to wig wrap all the girls' hair very tight and put a braid in at the crown

Dazed Digital: How is Paris so far?
James Pecis:
Paris is great. It is a compacted city and everyone is here so you are constantly bumping into people and crossing paths. Each city is completely different during the month of shows and it is only appropriate to finish off in Paris. I have a nice schedule here, one show a day and usually a fitting. Enough to keep me busy but not kill me!

DD: You worked on Peachoo + Krejberg with Dazed's Fashion Director Karen Langley. Can you talk us through the hair this season?
James Pecis:
The hair this season for Peachoo + Krejberg was more about shape and form than the classic hairstyling. I used Extra Strength Holding Spray and Thickening Spray by Bumble to wig wrap all the girls' hair very tight and put a braid in at the crown. Stocking caps were fitted around the head and then a ponytail piece was attached. The ponytail was prepped the night before and wrapped in fabric from the show and sewn at the ends.

DD: You've been working with the label for years...
James Pecis: Yes, this is another show that I have been doing for a while which is one of my favorites. Roy and Peachoo have become family and I am continuously inspired by their collections and the way they choose to live. They are passionate about fashion but even more passionate for humanity. Karen Langley is also part of this family of course – and I have always admired her vision and aesthetic.

DD: Your next show is Sharon Wauchob. Are there any key words for the hair this season?
James Pecis:
Clean, expensive, minimal. It's a strong collection with a great team of Tony styling and Yadim on make-up. I'm about to start now...
