Sergio Rossi's A/W12 clip, directed by 'I am Love' director Luca Guadagnino, plays with the notion of women's shoes being powerful sex objects. The film borders on fetish, which works quite well with Sergio Rossi's recent 'Skin to Skin' project. In the film, the body of Diane Dondoe becomes one with her shoes, using leather and other armour-like materials as a second skin. The result is a dark and moody tale of sex, power and lust... just the way we like it! Sergio Rossi products are always about the idea of a shoe as a fetish object. This brand has always been the reflection of extremely seductive and desirable shoes capable to cause a dangerous state of mind Dazed Digital: What is the inspiration behind the collection?Francesco Russo: For me transformation and mutation have always been interesting. Working on the idea of a second skin through body pieces, it felt right to go in this direction. All the products are made of different types of leather, like python, ostrich foot, lizard, crocodile, kid suede. They are like objects that are constantly evolving. DD: How did the film project come about?Francesco Russo: Ever since I started working at Sergio Rossi, I have always tried to make the collection tangible through the visual support of photographs and creative projects. This season a film felt like the most natural progression to tell the story of what the brand is and how we are looking to move forward. DD: Why did you want to work with Luca Guadagnino?Francesco Russo: I have known Luca for 15 years, and for me it is very important to work with people I feel close and comfortable with. Also, in the film "I am Love", one of my favourite scenes is between Emma and Antonio making love for the very first time surrounded by the grass at the Ligurian countryside. This scene, with the close up shots of the body, touching and embracing each other, was extremely magic and sensual. I had this scene in mind when I started to visual my ideas around the “Skin to Skin” project. So, it all came together quite naturally. DD: There's a quite strong sex and fetish feel to the film - how much is that reflected in the actual shoe collection?Francesco Russo: Sergio Rossi products, in general, are always about the idea of a shoe as a fetish object. This brand has always been the reflection of extremely seductive and desirable shoes capable to cause a dangerous state of mind. Escape the algorithm!
