Peter Pilotto Resort S/S12

Motifs from nature appear in the form of clover prints, microscopic depictions and colourful leaves for the duo's first Pre-Spring collection

Abstract florals and metallic details were the key graphic motifs for Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos' first Pre-Spring collection, where they've moved their signature print aesthetics into a new territory with summery colours and inspirations from nature. Nods to California beach culture highlight the joyous spirit of the season - where optical artworks of Walter Leblanc were the source of the duo's colour inspiration. The clashing primary colours are meant to allude to the Belgian artist’s series of brightly painted and torqued plastic from the 1960s, whilst combinations of intense colours drawn from nature are also found throughout the collection in sulfur yellow, mercury blue, and shades of red.

Draping and tailoring in the collection create modern variations on the shift dress - rendered with cap sleeves, draped tank bodices, or deep v-necklines - whilst pencil skirts, softly gathered neckline tops, and loose blouses are juxtaposed with tailored jackets and trousers in solid, bright hues ranging from lightweight silk and viscose jerseys, and crisp white cotton piques, to stretch viscose georgettes.
