A dream date, right? Well, that was the concept behind Facebook’s VIP launch party last Thursday, July 23, to celebrate its Still Available residency in Los Angeles. The picture-perfect night was the kickoff to Facebook’s three-day experiential residency on Melrose Avenue, where Facebook Marketplace was brought to life by creating an entire space to spotlight its most popular categories, including fashion, cars, home decor and more, with creators Justin Miller, Roxana Jullapat, Alexander the Tailor, Bella & Griffin, Madi Webb, Michael Washington, Vin Anatra, and Matt Starr Dream Baby Press, who hosted workshops and curated the space. Lucky attendees of last Thursday’s event were able to get an exclusive first look at the residency, enjoy DJ sets by some of LA’s best, and mingle with fellow second-hand shopping lovers Below, we get into what went down. DID SOMEONE SAY NOSTALGIA? Photography courtesy of Facebook For the nostalgia-obsessed, the residency was a feast for the eyes. One activation featured an impressive lineup of posters, magazine covers and other media from the 90s and early 2000s, making for the ideal Y2K photo opp. SHOPPING WITH A SIDE OF MUSIC Photography courtesy of Facebook If your Facebook Marketplace scrolling is usually accompanied by some shopping jams, then you would’ve felt right at home at the residency, where DJ sets by Cailin Russo and KITTY CA$H made the experience feel that much more immersive. THERE WAS PLENTY OF IRL FITSPO TOO Photography courtesy of Facebook It’s no secret that Facebook Marketplace is one of the best places to find your next favourite piece, so obviously attendees had to pull up in style. There aren’t many places where you can find outfit inspiration and start searching for similar pieces in the same hour, but that was the case at the residency where Madi Webb’s closet was brought to life. A TRUE LA KICKBACK Photography courtesy of Facebook The event ended as all the best LA nights do – by hanging out in a makeshift backyard. After checking out the offerings of the residency, guests chilled in the venue’s back alleyway and at Ètra, giving the night the feel of a quintessential summer hang. Escape the algorithm!
