October 2021 horoscope: find love and peace this Libra season

TextGrace McGradeIllustrationGabrielle Rosenstein

The month of scales has us seeking harmony, balance, and equilibrium – particularly in relationships

Grace McGrade is an intuitive astrologer and priestess based in Los Angeles. She is the co-founder of ASTRAL ORACLES and author of Palpable Magic; a website exploring prose about sex, love, Los Angeles and the occult. Her sessions include natal chart readings, energetic clearing and activations, and tarot readings.

October begins with the Sun radiating through the sign of Libra. We are implored to seek harmony, balance, and equilibrium – particularly in relationships. Libra is a social sign, focused on one-on-one dynamics, finding love and maintaining the peace. Here, our artistic temperaments are accentuated, as is our indecisiveness. We are learning to balance emotions with logic, work with downtime, and the internal with the external. On a more spooky note, Mercury is retrograding through Libra until the 18th. This brings pressing communication issues in relationships to the surface, old flames reappearing and misunderstandings. Try to remain patient and pause before speaking, as miscommunications can occur at this time. Attachment styles and matters of the heart become the topic of discussion. Women’s matters are also highlighted during the first two weeks of October, as power planet Pluto squares the asteroid Eris, which symbolises righteous feminine rage. Here we may see a collective boiling point in relationship to injustice and imbalance.

A New Moon in Libra on the 6th promises prosperity within relationships, if we can set intentions on what we want from others. This date, give or take a few days, is a sublime time to call in a new romance, or reinvigorate an existing flame. Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter all station direct in October, pushing the collective forward. We are implementing more transformation, expansion, and growth towards a brighter, more balanced future.

Venus is in Scorpio til the 8th, and our love language is divulging secrets and playing detective. The mood lightens up, when Venus then enters Sagittarius, and we are hungry for travel, adventure, and exploration.  Mercury stations direct on the 18th, easing our communicative efforts and prompting us to move ahead. A Full Moon in the sign of Aries on the 20th challenges us to let go of outdated beliefs and move ahead in pursuit of personal expression.  Shortly thereafter, the Sun sinks deep into the sign of Scorpio, amplifying our appetite for intimacy and depth. Here, we can channel our energy into uncovering deep emotions, hidden information, and psychic perception.
