Make-up artist and beauty influencer Chris Grave on why he uses Kryolan TV Paint Sticks for all of his looks

Make-up artist and beauty influencer Chris Grave utilises his transformative looks and runway-ready make-up to test the boundaries within the beauty and fashion industry. With his face as his canvas, Chris’s ambition is to portray the subjectivity of beauty standards and help future generations learn to love the skin they’re born with. Chris is setting the new agenda for beauty and fashion brands, challenging the industry to be more inclusive, while encouraging his audience to express themselves in their truest form. Here, he shares his choice for Product of The Week – a weekly round-up of the Dazed Beauty team and wider community’s must-have buys.

Brand: Kryolan
Product: TV Paint Stick
Price: £17.20

I was first introduced to Kryolan through the drag scene, it being a popular base for many queens and their transformations, and have been using the product consistently for over a year now to create all of my transformative looks.

The TV Paint Sticks are best applied with a beauty sponge over a primed skin base. Once set with powder it becomes the perfect colour base for any crazy make-up look. I love the product for how versatile it can be and how varied the colour options are, making it perfect for almost any base you want to create.

What’s really great about working with the Paint Sticks is that once you have collected an array of colours, you can start playing with colour theory, mixing your own colours together to customise whatever colour base you want.

The fictional character who would use it is... Raven (Mystique) from X-Men, as a shapeshifter she would definitely need some paint sticks to top-up on her disguises.

If I could go back in time and give this product to anybody it would be... Marie Antoinette, it would give her the perfect white base, she would be obsessed!

If it was an astrological sign it would be… Leo for sure. Large and in charge and always the star of the show.
