Kourtney Kardashian injected blood into her scalp to combat hair loss

The reality TV star turned to the vampire treatment in a new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Between Keeping Up With The Kardashians and the family’s various social media accounts, we, the public, have pretty much constant behind-the-scenes access to the Kardashians’ beauty routines. And Sunday’s episode of KUWTK did not disappoint.

The opening episode of season 17 sees Kourtney take a trip to Dr Jason Diamond after presumably being traumatised by sister Kim telling her all her hair was gone. “Oh my god, I’m afraid for your life. Your hair is gone. You’re bald. Kourtney, you have to go to the hospital right now,” says Kim after spotting a small patch of hair loss on Kourtney’s head.

In response to these dramatics, Kourtney visits Hollywood favourite Dr Diamond, who also recently injected Chrissy Teigen’s armpits with Botox, to undergo PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment. “Today I’m getting PRP, which is where they take your blood and spin it and they use your plasma and they inject it in my head for my hair to grow back,” Kourtney says in the episode. Dr Diamond tells Kourtney she will need two or three series of injections over the next three months but that she should be fine.

PRP Therapy, aka the Vampire facial which, incidentally, Kim Kardashian brought into the limelight in 2013 when she posted a bloodied selfie on social media, involves injecting one’s plasma back into the skin to rejuvenate the targeted area by promoting epidermal stimulation and the growth of collagen. In terms of hair, the therapy can help stimulate the hair follicles, thus promoting new hair growth.
