A gang leader tried escaping prison wearing a mask of his daughter’s face

Brazilian prisoner Clauvino da Silva donned a silicone mask, wig, and clothing of a 19-year-old but was stopped by officers when leaving

In today’s hellscape we call life, there’s probably not a lot that will shock you. Boris Johnson is PM (yeah, we saw it coming), scientists have created biomechanical (weird, but still not that out-of-the-ordinary), and the government is using ‘acne lights’ to highlight teenagers’ blemishes and keep them off the streets (just WTF?).

Then there’s this – the recent news that a Brazilian gang leader tried escaping prison dressed as his 19-year-old daughter. Not just dressed like her though, Clauvino da Silva – known as Shorty – left Brazil’s Gericinó prison in a silicone mask and wig too before being stopped by officials for his “nervousness”, not the weird doll-like face.

Following his foiled plan, Rio de Janeiro’s state secretary of prison administration posted a video showing da Silva removing the mask, wig, and clothing (bra included) before stating his name. According to Buzzfeed, this isn’t the first time the gang leader – who is currently serving a 73-year sentence for drug trafficking – has tried to escape prison, previously attempting to break out via a sewer.
