Beyoncé channelled the spirit of Josephine Baker last night
Channelling the rebellious spirit of French-American dancer and activist Josephine Baker, last night Beyoncé arrived at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre looking flawless in Alexander McQueen and pin curl braids. There to promote Disney’s hotly-anticipated The Lion King, in which she plays Nala, Queen Bey looked a vision with her braided pin curled hair tied back in a loose ponytail, with swirling baby hairs across her forehead courtesy of hair stylist Kim Kimble.
Accompanying Beyoncé was mini-me daughter Blue Ivy who wore her hair in matching braids tied up into two buns and fastened with glittering diamond hair accessories.
Also in attendance was Halle Bailey who is set to star as Ariel in Disney’s upcoming live-action reboot of The Little Mermaid, it was announced recently. Beyoncé has been a mentor to Bailey and her sister Chloe, championing the two sisters over the years, inviting them to open the US leg of her tour with Jay-Z and casting them in her music video for “All Night.” Some fans have even speculated that Beyoncé had a hand in the casting of Bailey in The Little Mermaid.
