Mainstream beauty shots often focus on long, billowy manes of hair, but it's those shaving it all off who are our unsung heroes. Skinheads have signified many different things over the years, from a rejection of society’s conventions to a sense of female empowerment. Now a new generation of beauty subverters are transgressing normative standards and taking their buzzcuts even further. Moving away from the more severe looks of the 1970s, the kids of Instagram have been updating the skinhead look with vibrant pops of colour, layered floral carvings, graffiti-like slogans, psychedelic patterns and monogram stencils - and we couldn't be more excited about it.
