Come through dripping! A few days ago, we were checking out the @AREA show at NYFW and it didn’t take us long to realise that the jewels were stealing the show. Not any kind of jewels. These were jewels that entirely covered the models’ faces. But of course, this is a well-established phenomenon in the underground world of Instagram beauty, one that we’ve been championing for a while.
We can all agree that wearing jewellery isn’t really a new thing. It dates all the way back to ancient Egyptian times. Possibly even earlier. To us, jewellery is about using shiny objects to bring attention to the very features we want to highlight: our ears, necks, wrists and fingers… So why has it taken this long for us to start wearing in on our face? And we don't mean the kind of cool girl and outsider boy rocking up to a party with a nose ring, lip ring, eyebrow stud or snakebites. We mean sumptuous chandeliers that hang from our hairlines, bejewelled frames that encase our noses, and decorative pearls that sit atop our cheekbones. The list is endless. But fear not, we’ve put together a list of beauty hackers that are doing it best.
