Curve model, aspiring designer and sometimes creative director, La’Shaunae Steward, grew up not seeing anyone in the fashion and modeling industry that looked like her. Recently signed as a model herself, the 21-year-old from Charleston, South Carolina, represents the change she always hoped to see. “As a model who is not the required size for even 'plus size' modeling, it’s important to show the world that I can make it too, so young girls don’t give up on their dreams.”
It was this desire to inspire younger generations that prompted 21-year-old La’Shaunae to set up Inclus Models in the Summer of 2018 – a body positive platform aimed at showcasing unsigned models who “don’t start at 5’8 and don’t end at a size 18.” Add to that a shoe capsule collection with Jeffrey Campbell and walking in New York Fashion Week for Whatever 21 in 2017, and it's clear that La'Shaunae won't let old hat fashion industry beauty standards hold her back from success. To her, the rightful future of the beauty, fashion and modeling industries is a landscape where it’s normal to see girls like her on the cover of magazines, not uncommon.
