The 19-year-old previously said that fans would never see her tattoo
Yesterday (May 2), the 19-year-old appeared on the cover of British Vogue’s June 2021 issue, revealing a black ink tattoo snaking up her right thigh.
Wearing a custom-made corseted Burberry body and sheer Mugler stockings, the pin-up-inspired shoot is a huge departure from Eilish’s usual aesthetic, and signals a new era for the newly-platinum blonde singer.
“I‘ve literally never done anything in this realm at all,“ Eilish told British Vogue. “Y‘know, besides when I‘m alone and shit.“
“Don‘t make me not a role model because you‘re turned on by me. Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you,“ she added. “It‘s all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery. If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, fuck it – if you feel like you look good, you look good.“
Eilish‘s photoshoot comes as the singer prepares to release her second studio album, Happier Than Ever, on July 30.
Posting the cover artwork on Instagram last week, the artist wrote: “this is my favorite thing i’ve ever created and i am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. i can’t even tell you. i’ve never felt so much love for a project than i do for this one. hope you feel what i feel. alsoooo new song out thursday at 9am too!!”
