Violet Chachki is collaborator and muse for new fragrance Dirty Violet

The drag superstar has teamed up with Heretic on a new scent

2019 has been the year Violet Chachki officially solidified her status as fashion’s newest It Girl. From closing Moschino’s horror-filled Pre-SS20 show to staring in Pat McGrath’s skin collection campaign and attending the Met Gala, the Drag Race superstar has made her mark on the industry. Now, she is back with her latest offering – perfume.

It was announced today (November 5) that Chachki has teamed up with Hectic Parfum, a clean, genderless perfume brand who has previously partnered with Chachki’s mentor Dita Von Teese. Launching immediately, “Dirty Violet” is an eau de parfum with notes of violet leaf (obviously), jasmine sambac, patchouli, cedarwood, and labdanum.

“A lot of drag queens douse themselves in really cheap, what I call ‘whore perfume.’ That’s a quote from something,” Chachki told WWD. “When I was smelling Heretic for the first time, I was impressed because it was organic-smelling and light and refreshing and natural and not overbearing at all and not too synthetic or floral. It doesn’t smell like you’re wearing cotton candy.”

Alongside the fragrance is a campaign inspired by John Willie, a subversive artist, fetish photographer and publisher of fetish magazine Bizarre in the 30s.

While this is Chachki’s first foray into beauty products, the Drag Race alum community has been busy at work. Willam, Aquaria, Trixie Mattel, Kim Chi, Miss Fame, and Alyssa Edwards have all released their own beauty offerings in the past year. 

Dirty Violet is available exclusively on Heretic’s website retailing at $35 (10ml) and $95 (30ml).
