Kim demonstrates new KKW body foundation on her 84 year old grandmother

Mary Jo wanted help from her granddaughter to cover veins on her arms

Two weeks ago Kim Kardashian announced she was releasing make-up, including foundation, for the body. The news received a mixed response from followers who were divided between excitement and feelings that the foundation sent a message that bodies aren’t good enough as they are and need correcting, adding further pressure to people to look perfectly airbrushed all the time.

Perhaps in an attempt to assuage this apprehension, Kim has been taking to social media platforms to demonstrate the various ways the foundation can be used. First up was a video which sees the reality star using the foundation on herself to cover the psoriasis on her legs. “I use this when I want to enhance my skin tone or cover my psoriasis,” Kim writes in the caption. “I bruise easily and have veins and this has been my secret for over a decade. I’ve learned to live with and not be insecure of my psoriasis, but for days when I want to just cover it up I use this Body Makeup.”

If that wasn’t enough to convince people, yesterday Kim enlisted the help of her grandmother Mary Jo Campbell as her next test subject. “My grandma MJ asked me about my Body Makeup and wanted me to come over to help cover her veins,” Kim writes in the four slide post which shows her applying the foundation to the 84-year-old. “Oh my goodness, look at the difference,” MJ says in the video as Kim blends the foundation into her arms. “It looks so much better — hides all the purple.”

In the next video, after setting the foundation with some powder, Kim demonstrates how little the make-up transfers – a concern that some followers raised when the product was announced. Kim also addressed the topic in her caption.

“Let’s talk about the transfer. I’ve been using body makeup for over a decade now and in my experience you either get coverage that doesn’t transfer but it’s super dry and looks fake or its the opposite and really moisturizing but completely transfers. My new @kkwbeauty Body Makeup is in between. If you let it dry before putting your clothes on it transfers way less and if you set it with a translucent powder it hardly transfers at all. It was important to keep the skin looking flawless yet natural. Swipe to the 3rd slide to see. In the transfer video we didn’t have translucent powder but tried one of my pressed powders and that worked pretty good too!”

Finally, Kim takes the foundation off with a make-up wipe (from Kylie Skin, of course) explaining how easily it comes off although MJ isn’t sure she wants that, saying “we should leave it on forever!”

This is not the first time MJ has been involved in the beauty lines of her granddaughters. One of Kylie’s very first lip kits, a true red, is named Mary Jo K for her grandmother.
