Everything we know about Cher’s new fragrance

Because we all want to smell like Cher

Cher recently announced on twitter she’s dropping her first perfume since the 80s. Alluringly named, Cher Eau de Couture, the genderless perfume will have notes of bergamot, neroli, jasmine, vetiver and vanilla.

“It is a labor of love and I am especially happy to announce this the day after my birthday. This too is a milestone in my career as an artist,” she said to WWD. “It completely expresses who I am, and I wear it every day. I know there are people who don’t want to have anything on them, but I cannot even go to that place.”

The last time Cher had a brush with beauty was in 1988, when she debuted the iconic fragrance Uninhibited Eau de Toilette - a unique combination of perfumes based on Charles of the Ritz and Vanilla by Jean Laporte, which she had been mixing expertly on her own skin for over ten years. This was released right before her self titled album, Cher, and right after she snagged her best actress Oscar for Moonstruck.

“Over the years everyone has remarked how great I smell. I mean, even David Letterman said: "God, you smell good."That's a great compliment,” Cher said upon the release back in ‘88.

Sadly Uninhibited has been discontinued, although you can now find it on eBay for the humble price of $200 a bottle. But who needs that when a second fragrance is right around the corner, which is something Cher has been perfecting for the past four years. The perfume has similar notes to its predecessor, with both containing warming scents like bergamot and vanilla.  "I like vanilla. It’s very touchy-feely. It makes you want to hold yourself,” Cher told WWD.

According to Cher, the perfume will be released “when I’m ready”, so hold tight.
