From nudes to still lifes to full body photograms, get to know Harley’s nudes in the preview below
Described as a study in desire, FATHER is a new photobook from British photographer Harley Weir featuring portraits, nudes, still-lifes, and full body photograms the majority of which have never been seen before. Speaking about the new book, Weir says it is an exploration and worship of the male body – although the term male covers the whole spectrum all the way up to “women that identify as women.”
Intimate and raw, Weir’s photographs portray the body at its most visceral as flesh and hair are unflinchingly captured. “It’s hard to know what you fully desire as a woman when almost everything sexual you have seen was made by a man. I always wanted to make the kind of things that I found sexy so I could feel that desire was mine too,” she says. “[The book is] thinking about desire, finding people beautiful and trying to open up those confines that men and women share when it comes to gender roles and all things sexual.”
FATHER is published by IDEA Books and launches at Dover Street Market London on May 16th in a limited edition of just 1000.
