Feeling the winds of wanderlust picking you up once again now the world is opening up? While international travel remains ever-so-slightly out of reach, MCM brings us on a globe-traversing journey through scent, with the launch of the luxury label’s first ever fragrance. Now, you can cop yourself the fragrance that puts that sentiment into its scent.
The eau de parfum is inspired by the love, freedom, and multi-sensory experience of travel, the journey to a long-awaited, tranquil destination brought to us through the magical alchemy of scent. And delightfully, the perfume bottle is a lovely nod to MCM's roots in travel, modeled in the image of the brand’s legendary Stark backpack in its signature Cognac Visetos monogram print. The unisex scent compounds of top notes of raspberry and apricot; heart notes of white peony, jasmine absolute, and violet leaf; and base notes of white moss, vanilla, ambrox super, and sandalwood – close your eyes, and imagine a fragrant wooded forest clearing to a dreamy view of Marseille’s glittering calanques.
A trio of creatives from the Dazed Beauty network reimagined the concept of fragrance, inspired by MCM’s offering, through their work with hair, make-up, and nails, photographed by Tom Blesch in the lo-fi yet glossy style he’s known for. Lauren Michelle Pires’s nails gave us fun, amorphous 3D styles that responded to MCM’s playful and creative approach to scent, while make-up artist Alice Dodds utilised her high-camp glamour sensibilities and played with a make-up look that spoke to the perfume’s warm and vibrant notes in bold, bright colours. And hairstylist Adiam Habtezion’s colourful and sleek hair creation was inspired by MCM’s celebration of wanderlust and free spirits.
