James Franco is making a lesbian vampire film

Franco will be producing and starring in remake of 90s classic ‘Mother, May I Sleep With Danger’ – but he's remodelling it as a lesbian vampire film. Obviously

When it comes to remaking 90s cult made-for-TV films featuring everyone's favourite 90210 homegirl Tori Spelling, you'd be forgiven for thinking that less might be more. After all, the original plot of 1996 film Mother, May I Sleep With Danger featured Spelling as an innocent student just dealing with normal college stuff as you do, like figuring out whether her boyfriend is a murderer. Not James Franco, however. The actor is spearheading a remake of the film – and true to form, Franco's put his own unique twist on it. By making it a lesbian vampire film. Obviously.

The update will feature Spelling, this time as the mother to the character she played twenty years ago. Franco will be starring in the film, although his role has yet to be confirmed. Vulture reports that the story will revolve around a college student called Leah who brings her new love interest, a girl called Pearl, home to meet her mum Julie. The official release for the film reads that "Julie tries to embrace the idea of Leah’s new love interest, but she can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong. Julie’s suspicions lead to a startling discovery about Pearl that puts Leah in serious danger. Will Julie be able to save her daughter from an eternity of heartache before it’s too late?” The official press materials go on to conclude that this will be a "vampire love story that brings a whole new meaning to ‘sleeping with danger.'"

Although it's hard to say what 'serious danger' Leah is in is, given that this is a lesbian vampire film it's likely there might be some vampirish freakiness going on here, Twilight-style. Lesbian vampires, and James Franco? Seems like the stuff best-selling erotic fiction (or pornos) are made of.
