Can’t be in town for the New York Art Book Fair? Stay home and double tap these accounts for a wealth of art goodness
The New York Art Book Fair at MoMA’s PS1 is kicking off right now. I’m in London, you might not be in New York, but it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the goodness that these publishers and distributors are… publishing and distributing. And these names prove that the art book goes beyond a great coffee table accessory. With collector’s items and editions, rare copies and fascinating new artists to be discovered – these publishers and distributors are the most share-happy on social media, making their @handles a great place to unearth art treasures.
IDEA BOOKS (@IDEABOOKSLTD)
IDEA Books’ Instagram could be the best thing that the social platform has. They just have this endless archive of insane books – which they, thankfully, continue to share on a daily basis. Seriously, insane. Thank you, IDEA.
WILD LIFE PRESS (@WILDLIFEPRESS)
This fascinating press has subculture nailed. From Iain McKell’s skinheads to New York’s Ballroom scene, and, most recently (launching this weekend) a look at one of the pioneering performance troupes of psychedelic gay liberation theatre – all shared in neat little squares on their IG, of course.
CAPRICIOUS (@CAPRICIOUSNEWYORK)
New York-based gallery/magazine/online platform Capricious are not only a great source of inspiring content but they also need huge props for supporting up-and-coming artists – perhaps done best through their Photographer Of The Week feature.
BLOOM PUBLISHING (@BLOOMPUBLISHING)
It’s nice to see a publisher make it all the way across the world – Bloom Publishing hail from Australia, and they do photo books like very few do.
