Red Hook Labs teams up with Dazed to offer unrepresented and emerging talent the chance to shoot for the magazine
For the past three years, Red Hook Labs’ Labs New Artists has offered a prestigious platform for burgeoning unsigned and unrepresented photographers from all over the world the chance to have their work displayed in its coveted Brooklyn gallery. The now annual exhibition’s ethos is set in discovering and exposing new talent and has helped to launch the careers of numerous artists around the world, such as Tyler Mitchell and Nadine Ijewere.
In addition, this year, Dazed is proud to collaborate with Red Hook Labs and will offer one of the final photographers a commissioned shoot in an upcoming issue of Dazed.
Beyond the launch exhibition, which opens in July, Red Hook Labs will once again pair each photographer selected with a juror for a year-long mentorship and will travel to Oslo and Milan after its New York opening.
The exhibiting photographers will be whittled down from a list of hundreds of entries to just 25 names, and will be selected by a jury which includes Ashleigh Kane, Dazed’s own Art & Culture Editor; Edward Enninful, Editor in Chief of British Vogue; Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Dior Men; Michael Famighetti, Editor of Aperture magazine; and, Jimmy Moffat, Founder of Red Hook Labs; along with many other industry leaders and professionals.
