Banksy will exhibit his work in Hong Kong for the first time

Who’s Laughing Now exhibits 27 artworks by the mysterious Bristolian artist

Art lovers in Hong Kong can now view 27 Banksy pieces all in one place. Banksy: Who’s Laughing Now will be on until December 7 at Phillips, an art auction house in Hong Kong. Banksy has never been exhibited in Hong Kong until now, with the gallery stating that all works are from “an important European collection”.

The show will include a mix of previously unseen pieces and some of his most famous works like, “Girl with Balloon”, “Love Rat”, “Love is in the Air” and “Laugh Now”. The auction house is only disclosing prices on request.

In the last major auction of Banksy’s work at Sotheby’s, “Girl with Balloon” was shredded before onlookers’ eyes, with senior director Alex Branczik declaring that “we just got Banksy-ed”. It is yet to be seen whether Banksy’s famous disdain for commercialism will stretch to Hong Kong.
