How do you find putting yourself in photos?
It started while I was at Yale. I was having difficulty finding people to pose for me. I wanted to take a picture of a boy making out with a tree. I couldn’t get anybody to wake up, 5 in the morning and climb a tree! So I ended up doing it. I started getting into it. One of my biggest dreams as a boy was that I wanted to be David Bowie. All I wanted to do was be a performer in this sense. I was obsessed by the fact that David Bowie could transform himself into a character.
