Hopefully, it’s aliens coming to help clear up the mess we’ve made of the planet and our lives
There’s something flying through Irish skies and nobody can work out what it is. A British Airways pilot contacted Irish air traffic control on Friday to report a sighting of an unidentified flying object.
The plane was headed for Heathrow from Montreal when the pilot saw a “very bright light”. According to the BBC she asked whether the military may have been doing exercises in the area because there was something “moving so fast”.
“It came up on our left-hand side and then rapidly veered to the north. It was a very bright light that disappeared at very high speed,” she said.
However there was no planned activity of this kind in the area and the pilot was told that there was “nothing showing on either primary or secondary (radar),” according to Airlive.
Shortly afterwards a pilot from a nearby Virgin aircraft said they’d seen something similar. From their vantage point there were “multiple” bright objects “following the same sort of trajectory”. It was suggested that they could be a meteor or other object re-entering the earth’s atmosphere.
One pilot described the speed as “astronomical”. “It was like Mach 2,” which is twice the speed of sound. While according to The Guardian another expressed relief that their eyes weren’t playing tricks on them. “Glad I’m not the only one”, they said.
A spokesman for the Irish Aviation Authority told the Irish Times it was investigating the incident. “Following reports from a small number of aircraft on Friday 9 November of unusual air activity the IAA has filed a report,” they said. “This report will be investigated under the normal confidential occurrence investigation process.”
