John Bobby Buellens gives Satellite Voices a look in at the last week in the life of Kinfolk Lounge, Tokyo
Formed in 2008, Kinfolk Studios in Brooklyn and Kinfolk Lounge in Nakameguro are the venues attached to the Kinfolk Bicycle company. Sourcing the fixed gear bikes of obsessives' dreams the four founding friends also run two awesome spots that attract an eclectic crowd. The Tokyo installation in Nakameguro is a shrine to modern machismo and whiskey with a seriously dedicated gang of regulars and assorted passers by. It and its owners' somewhat legendary, somewhat notorious status gave us the idea for Kinfolk's photo diary, a week in the life of a Tokyo staple...
John Bobby Beullens' A Week In The Life of Kinfolk Lounge:
Monday: Amateur Poker Stars unite at the Lounge. Feeling the rush of money flying out of my wallet.
Tuesday: Downtime - Tenzan Onsen (Natural Hot Spring) Hakone, day trip outside of Tokyo for some much needed R&R.
Wednesday: Maceo (my partner and all around good guy) arrives at the Lounge from NYC Kinfolk in preparation for the Yamazaki event on Saturday.
Thursday: Snow in Tokyo. Same as any big city, looks beautiful at night when falling, like shit the next day when you gotta walk through it.
Friday: Onigiri Fridays with Kateb playing the jams at new Shibuya club Vision.
Saturday: Yamazaki Whiskey presents the Kinfolk Omiyage Exchange Co Nakameguro - a bunny girl appears serving up the goods.
Sunday: Logcabin Trip - Snow and game meat on the BBQ up the mountains outside of Tokyo.
