Shanghai On Air: Ka Xiaoxi
March 1, 2012
The curator behind China's new creative platform goooodie.com captures a snapshot of the local music scene for this month's Shanghai mixtape
- Text by Terence Teh
Ka Xiaoxi is the artist, photographer, curator and self publisher behind the goooodie.com platform for emerging youth creativity from China and beyond. At 27-years-old, he's just released two tomes of Eastern talent - "A Fragment of China’s Youth" which is just that, exploring new movements in fashion, design, photography, music, publication and culture. Then there's "Light Room", a beautiful showcase of 17 young Chinese photographers - "In our treacherous and grotesque age, these are the ones who have not been carried away," explains Xiaoxi.
Check him out on Satellite Voices where he pens a monthly guest column on China's underground creative movements. And for our On Air mix series, he showcases the very best local musical talent - from Boys Climbing Ropes to 24hours and even a bit of Banana Monkey.
