The Magic of the Mexican Stamp
February 22
A landmark collaboration between Mexican and Chinese artists
- Text by Karchun Leung
Perhaps it's an unlikely creative collaboration, but 40-years-ago, Mexico and China cemented a relationship that saw a back and forth exchange of culture and art. It was in February 1972 where Mexican officials and the People’s Republic of China established their now renowned diplomatic relations. Through politics, economy, culture, education, and tourism - the exchange dramatically enhanced the understanding between these two thousand-year-old civilizations.
To celebrate this relationship, the Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai worked hand-in-hand with Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art unveiling the exhibition “The Magic of the Mexican Stamp”. All the artworks have officially been donated to the Shanghai Duolun MoMA, the Mexican people’s gift to Chinese in tribute to their friendship and strong commitment in social loyalty, civil responsibility and freedom.
The Magic of the Mexican Stamp runs to February 28 at Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art @
