Mechi Martinez and Mariano Breccia are two textile designers whose sustainable approach to fashion is their creative expression
- Text by Camilo Salas
Mechi Martinez and Mariano Breccia were born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, recently moving to Santiago. The two textile designers were part of the 4th Raíz Diseño, a celebrated workshop that is becoming an expression space for the fashion design scene of Chile and Latin America. Mechi and Mariano created the label and studio 12-NA as a platform to create unique pieces of clothing, with a re-imagined approach to design, through sustainability and recycling as a means of expression.
Satellite Voices: Who are 12-NA and what are you up to?
12-NA: We are Mechi Martinez and Mariano Breccia, plus a lot of friends who support us and share our creative process. We recycle clothes as a expression medium.
Satellite Voices: Why did you choose Santiago?
12-NA: A lot of things, firstly the second-hand clothes, the prime matter of our work. In Buenos Aires you don't have nice second-hand clothes. Then, little by little we were falling for Santiago.
Satellite Voices: Can you recommend designers of Santiago?
12-NA: Martin J and A de Antonio are two very interesting projects to see.
Lollapalooza: Fernando Milagros
