One of Rome's youngest gallerists unveils her new group show of next generation American artists
- Text by Luca Lo Pinto
Federica Schiavo is one of the youngest gallerists in Rome but has already established a great, rising reputation thanks to a series of interesting shows and projects by upcoming international artists. This latest show embodies Federica Schiavo's efforts to establish her position in the scene of Italian contemporary art galleries and is an unmissable treat. "Trieste" includes new works exclusively created for the show by Matthew Day Jackson, Jessica Jackson Hutchins, Jay Heikes, Karthik Pandian and Erin Shireff.
The exhibition metaphorically takes inspiration by two "borderline" realities: an Italian diving bathyscaphe that reached a record maximum depth in 1960 and a small port city in the Adriatic. A good occasion to have a look at the new generation of American artists whose fascination to the form is equally balanced by an in-depth intellectual curiosity.
