As 2011 comes to a close we pick out our favourite images of the year
- Text by Satellite Voices
With Satellite Voices we've dug deeper all year to celebrate all the young, up-and-coming artists from Paris - alongside the stalwart creatives that everyone has come to love about Paris's music, fashion and art cultures. With new creative institutions such as La Gaite Lyrique supporting the iconic figures, the vanguards haven't obviously been forgotten either. It's a new wave for Paris.
With this in mind one of Paris City Editors, Christophe Victoor, chooses his favourite three images of the year.
1. FIAC
Parisian photographer Sofia Nebiolo takes us to Grand Palais for the Foire Internationnale d'Art Contemporain, better known as FIAC. Bringing international exhibitors and collectors to one of the most historical building in town, FIAC showcases galleries such as Gagosian, Emmanuel Perrotin, Victoria Miro and Hauser & Wirth.
2. Jean Philippe Delhomme for Kitsune
Kitsuné continued their new Paris chic reign with their summer collection entitled, "Reporter". The second collaboration with the witty French fashion illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme (after the successful Kitsuné Ivy League Winter collection) encapsulates the spirit of the Summer.
3. Yayoi Kusama at Centre Pompidou
The Centre Pompidou is currently showing the first French retrospective dedicated to the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Following her career through 150 works (between 1949 and 2001), this exhibition of paintings, sculptures, installations and performances presents Kusama's "obsessional" work.
