  • Text by Violaine Schutz

The Magda Danysz Gallery in Paris is currently showing a collection of Julian Schnabel’s Polaroids. The iconoclastic American artist and filmmaker, has reinvented himself as a photographer, with a vintage Polaroid camera, although he has always used photography within his works, particularly in his paintings. Schnabel has shot a series of self-portraits, as well as several intimate images of his family, friends, and a lot of celebrities (Mickey Rourke, Lou Reed, Christopher Walken). In some cases the artist has painted on the surfaces of the photographs.

Polaroids by Julian Schnabel runs to December 3 at the Magda Danysz @
