Introducing the classic French pop of the Parisian starlet
- Text by Violaine Schutz
The talented classic French pop singer / songwriter will release her first album called "Crazy" in September. Perfect late summer music, sirenSatellite Voices catches up with the agile pianist and talks macaroons, art installations, Yves Klein and minimalism in music
Satellite Voices: What makes you smile?
Ornette: The sun in my eyes.
SV: What was the first thing you ever made?
Ornette: When I was six-years-old I won a piano competition. I remember it very well, the big and impressive big piano and my legs shaking like leaves.
SV: What’s your dream project?
Ornette: Composing the greatest contemporary symphony ever or making a movie or baking delightful macaroons. Can’t choose.
SV: What do you wish you had written / created?
Ornette: The Yves Klein’s blue monochrome (IKB 3).
SV: Who’s work / art / music would you recommend on checking out?
Ornette: The Parisian artist Tal Isaac Hadad and his forthcoming work, an interpretation of minimalism in music exhibiting a collection of transformed grand pianos. Awesome ! And I am a big fan of OK, a trio with one guitar and two drums playing (a kind of…) folk songs. They released their debut EP last march on the brand-new indie label Carton Records.
SV: How do you describe your work?
Ornette: Love songs and healing music, basically pop music.
