The young and talented fashion designer speaks about life in Paris

The talented 21-years-old Simon Porte Jacquemus decided to quit the fashion school he was attending to start creating his own collection, good for us, it's amazing. Definitley keep an eye on this guy.

Satellite Voices: How did you become a fashion designer?
Simon Porte Jacquemus: I started at fashion school but I was fed up with it and I stopped three months after I started. I then became an assistant for a fashion editor, but again I was fed up with it, so I decided to create my own brand, to create something for real.

SV:Can you tell us what inspires you?
Simon Porte Jacquemus: It's hard to understand what inspires me really, everything is linked to my childhood, it can be a mother's dress, or an old song. In fact, my mother inspires me a lot, what she wears. She's my first fashion icon!

SV: Can you describe the girls that are in your lookbooks. Do they have a certain importance in the creation of your collection?
Simon Porte Jacquemus: I don't know if they have a certain importance in the creation of my collection but I know that I love simple girls, without make up. I like the kind of girl who is still beautiful when she's walking in the street, not just on a runway! They all look like my mother, I'm a maniac.

SV:Do you think you'll do a men's collection anytime soon?
Simon Porte Jacquemus: I don't think so, i'm a bit bored with menswear and for the moment there's nothing I want to express about it. Maybe later we'll see!

SV:What are your favourite spots in Paris?
Simon Porte Jacquemus: My favourite spots in Paris are my home and around my place, the 18th District.

SV:Can you tell us what's next for you?
Simon Porte Jacquemus: I would love to just continue creating and express something in the fashion industry. But how? I don't know. I can't wait to show my new collection, that's so exciting!
