Sportswear label K1X launch a collection inspired by their raw Bavarian roots
- Text by Christine Bierhals
Last Saturday, Munich’s mayor launched Oktoberfest 2012 by tapping the first beer. In the next two weeks, seven million visitors will descend on the Theresienwiese where they will demolish around seven million litres of beer, 120 oxen and over 59 baby calves, wearing traditional costumes and listening to Bavarian music at the place that saw the crowning of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese, 202 years ago.
Just in time for the Oktoberfest, and for those who are into tradition but don’t want to dress up in straight down the line, Bavarian costumes, the basketball-inspired, local sportswear label K1X has created the Poacher Series - a tribute to their own kind of Bavarian roots.
The poacher is a controversial figure - a clandestine hunter who shoots without permission. Sometimes for personal purposes, sometimes for a collective good. The poacher is a dark and secretive character that has transported many myths and legends in Bavaria over the last 200 years. K1X's Poacher Series was created to depict his romantic outlaw status. And all of their products appear quite basic on first sight but are riddled with inspiring hidden details.
