- Text by Kemal Tarba
Tomorrow, Tuesday March 6 is the official date of the opening of this year's Moscow Photobiennale. Over 40 exhibitions are hosted by stellar photography hubs including the likes of the Moscow House of Photography, the Museum of Modern Art, the Cultural Foundation Ekaterina, the Cervantes Institute and the A3 gallery. The Photobiennale takes place throughout Spring, with this year's festival exploring the themes of cinema and travelling.
One of this year's highlights is an exhibition of the work of Arkady Shaykhet at the Multimedia Art Museum, one of the founders of Russian reportage photography. Shaykhet documented the life of the country in the first five year period during the World War II, and in the postwar years, collaborated with Ogonek magazine, for which he had made photo-stories from across the country.
