- Text by Kemal Tarba
On January 27, 16 Tonn club is hosting the Night of Russian Electronic music. We talked to the main headliner of the feast – Alexey Devyanin aka Pixelord, the Moscow-based musician working for Hyperboloid Records. Alexey creates his own music, plays live in the clubs alongside with art directing for the academy of audio-visual art.
Satellite Voices: What qualities of other musicians do you admire?
Pixelord: Their maturity as a musician and as a person. I am very envious and respectful for those who can play well on the keys. For me it is something from another dimension.
SV: You are soon realizing your third vinyl, tell us about it ...
Pixelord: Third vinyl is called "Keramika" ("Ceramics"), but not because it has something to do with this material, I just like that word: its sound and associations represent the recorded music. Vinyl will be released by the London-based Hit and Hope.
SV: What impact has the urban energy of Moscow on your work?
Pixelord: There is some influence, but it is minimal. Rather, the rhythm of life affects something. I can compose my tracks anywhere in the world where it is not hot and there is Internet access.
SV: If your life was a movie, what would you be its soundtrack?
Pixelord: 50% drone and ambient, 30% dance music, 20% of everything else. And most importantly, there will not be a single song. I do not like it when they sing, I do not like poetry.
