Timofey Kolesnikov's portrait series at Moscow’s infamous behind the scenes fashion party
Backstage Models Only is a launch of series of parties, that concluded Moscow’s fashion weeks. Vibrant personalities and the brilliant local fashion scene were captured by Tim’s epic Leica. We caught up with Timofey to pick the best photos and talk about nightlife and his candid photography…
Satellite Voices: How did Moscow nightlife culture evolved in last 5 years?
Timofey Kolesnikov: Clubbing evolved into bar culture. Today Moscow looks like a mixture between Europe and New York. Previously folks had fun in places with 500 people capacity, but now they are interested in smaller and more sincere places. But maybe it is the way I personally evolved, not Moscow’s nightlife itself.
SV: Is there anything common between Moscow’s fashion people?
Timofey Kolesnikov: Yeah, all of them f*cked with each other. Men. Women.
SV: What kind of stories will your photos tell future people in 30 years from now?
Timofey Kolesnikov: I enjoy shooting emotions and they don’t have expiration date. I hope in 30 years children of my heroes will look at their parents’ photos with such words as: “My mom is cool."
