A photo report of Russia’s new & promising generation of illustration artists

  • Text by Kemal Tarba

Turgenev Library exhibition hall hosted more than 20 works of 10 up-and-coming illustration artists, all graduates of Moscow’s leading art institutions.

We had a closer look at the artful work of Elena Novikova, an allusion to Russian avant-garde and western surrealism. The young director and animator Valery Kozhin sticked out with his search for visual interpretations of L. Carroll’s poetries. The subtle use of colours and the clever style of the illustrations by Mikhalskaya and Tsvetaeva were the perfect fairy tale.

Satellite Voices will dive further into reporting from the new generation of Russian illustrators, with a series of insight interviews with the most promising ones...
