As 2011 comes to a close we pick out our favourite images of the year

Dubai is known as one of the world's leading modern art hubs however our coverage of the city's emerging talent in 2011 also showed off Dubai's unique local music scene and the young photographers casting a fresh new eye on the region.
Satellite Voices Dubai city editor Kate Hazell showcases her top three images of the year.
1. Sarah Abu Adballah
Traffic Gallery in Dubai’s Al Quoz, continues to fly the flag for contemporary artists by dedicating their summer exhibition to the most promising and exciting graduates to have recently finished the Fine Arts program at the University of Sharjah including Sarah Abu Adballah from Saudi Arabia who investigates the female dress and gender roles through photography and video.
2. Hamdan Al Arbi
Vocalist and frontman of Dubai’s soul funk band Abri is Hamdan Al Arbi. We met him before he took to the stage for a solo set with DJ David Craig as part of the Chill Out Festival 2011.
3. Bahr Karim
Introducing Bahr Karim, the Iraq Dubai-based photographer who has been documenting the city for the past three years, the monumental beauty of Dubai.
