Art Couture Presents Trio
April 19, 2011
A celebration of contemporary art with Hassan Edalbi, Basem Al Sayer and Cynthia Reta Richards
- Text by Kate Hazell
This month, Art Couture gallery singles out three contemporary artists for its latest exhibition, Trio. Syrian caricature artist Hassan Edalbi’s collection of work, "Moods" highlights day-to-day emotions from light-hearted humour to the deeper realities of pain and childhood in his moving acrylic paintings.
Fellow Syrian artist Basem Al Sayer also explores emotion with his exhibition, "Dreams and Reality". The Sharjah-based artist explores the notion of memory, both real and imaginary and emotion expression with an air of mysticism.
Artist Cynthia Reta Richards completes the trio with her work "Read Between The Threads", paying homage to the Bedouin lifestyle still evident today behind the scenes of modern Middle Eastern society. Inspired by traditional weaving, the Canadian artist weaves a story through thread exploring the hardships and achievements of the Bedouin people.
Trio runs until April 27
