In August 2008, two bands hit the road in one bus for two weeks covering 5768 km across China
while the world’s focus was on Beijing. The passengers on the bus represent opposite ends of
the Chinese indie spectrum - PK14, pioneers in the Beijing rock scene and Queen Sea Big Shark,
new wave upstarts. Together they took the stage with local bands in five cities, playing sold
out shows in small but hopeful underground music scenes where emerging bands and sounds are
finding a new generation of audience. The road trip, with all of its unknown surprises and
discoveries, was made into a documentary entitled "Love Noise" of which a trailer can be seen
here. Dazed & Confused have partnered with Converse to do an exclusive screening of the film
in London this February.
Documentary film director Liu Feng (Hammer) took charge of pre-production, filming and editing
of the film. He began the project without much knowledge or love of rock music but approached
the project with a 100% real attitude, which gave way to his concluding love and understanding
of the scene in the end: "I am not a director. I didn't direct and they didn't act."
