A Pussy Riot activist is releasing a book, Read & Riot

Artist and campaigner Nadya Tolokonnikova will detail her many arrests in the ‘guerilla guide’

Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova is to release a book: “a guerilla guide to radical protest and joyful political resistance”, as described by publisher HarperCollins. Read & Riot will detail Tolokonnikova’s many arrests and activities as an anti-establishment activist and artist.

An advance excerpt from the book gives a taste of what to expect from its 243 pages, which will be published October 9. “Arrest is an almost religious experience,” reads the beginning of one chapter. “The moment you are arrested, you are abruptly purged of the self-centred confidence that you can control the world.”

The table of contents also reveals afterwords from Kim Gordon and Olivia Wilde, and a Pussy Riot reading list.

Most recently, Pussy Riot have been embroiled in arrest controversies for storming the pitch during the Russian World Cup.
