Alongside his professional skateboarding career and running a skateboard company ToyMachine, he is also a photographer, illustrator and painter. Templeton's work merges his talents into his own form of art, with origins in the skateboard and punk scenes, his work reflects the DIY aesthetic and endeavor of these cultures.Having no formal training as an artist, Templeton’s use of multiple mediums such as painting or writing on photographs shows an ad hoc approach, whilst his subject matter in turn reflects an non-judgmental perspective of his surroundings. His subject matter ranges from delving into his personal relationships as well as searching the outside streets and skate culture, and he has exhibited internationally at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Museum Het Domein (Netherlands), and Kiasma Museum (Helsinki), as well as participated in the influential Beautiful Losers exhibition and feature film. Currently his biggest exhibition to date is being held at the S.M.A.K. Museum in Gent, Belgium.Ed Templeton's work will now be exhibited at London's Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, as a personal chronicle that serves as a mirror for a broader reflection on what it means to be human.
