Music / IncomingLong Live T BarDazed speak to headliners Soul Clap about the demise of the London club before the one night extravaganzaShareLink copied ✔️July 21, 2010MusicIncomingText Flora Yin-Wong Playing alongside New York/Chilean Nicolas Jaar and London's own Floating Points, enigmatic duo Soul Clap will be bringing their E-Funk to East London's Scrutton street warehouse party to celebrate over five years of T Bar. The Funktion One equipped venue which had established itself as one of the best clubbing destinations in London boasted impressive line-ups every week, from Hercules & Love Affair, Claude VonStroke to hosting Bugged Out nights. Going out with a bang, they have invited Boston's finest to hold an eclectic night of funky sounds, galactic deep house, and electronica.Dazed Digital: How do you feel about being invited to headline the T Bar closing party?Soul Clap: Well we were really excited for this date when it was actually supposed to be at T Bar. Just playing such a legendary club is an honor and to be given full creative control of the night was a dream come true. Obviously plans have changed and it's a shame that we never actually got to play T Bar, but it's actually really f'in cool to be the headliners at the closing party of such a dance music staple.DD: Did you feel a certain affinity with T Bar before it shut down? Any other favourite places in London to play?Soul Clap: Well we never got to play T Bar or even go to the original location, but we've had some wild nights with Jaime at the new spot and it's clear that she's got the Clap! Probably the most ridiculous place we've played is the Toilet ('fancy dress 4eva'), also Fabric is obviously special, they're so pro over there it's rare for a super club to feel that cool. Warehouse raves are pretty awesome too, basically we just love London.DD: You started singing your own vocals in on 'Beautiful Thang', is this a new thing and will it continue?Soul Clap: Yes Charlie will be a famous pop vocalist someday. Bye bye bye, ain't no lie.DD: Your 'Extravaganza'/'Sex in the Kitchen' edits have been so well received - any hints for what's to come next from you guys?Soul Clap: Well we've been really busy touring so haven't been doing much original production. We do have a bunch of remixes coming out over the summer and fall including of a track off the new Tiefschwarz album, a remix of Kathy Diamond on Needwant, something we've done with Jonny White from Art Department coming on Rekids and a bunch more that aren't finished yet. We also spent some time in the studio with SECT before we took off so there's a few EPs ready for the fall/winter. Last but not least we've started working on tracks for our first album.T Bar Closing Party with Soul Clap, Nicolas Jaar, Floating Points, Derren Smart and Johnny Rock; Saturday 24th July, Scrutton Street Warehouse.
